Captain Mark here…
This Saturday’s race is on at 11 am. Light winds are predicted at 4 MPH but you never know. I’m inclined to set the course and start at 11 am. It’s been too long and a light sail is better than no sail. Bring your crew and paddles. Contact me if you want to be placed on a boat.
Our next scheduled Stress-Free Sailing Invitational Regatta will be Saturday, Aug. 8, at 11 am. The races are open to the community so, if you know someone with a sailboat who wants to join us, forward this message and ask them to email me if they are coming.
Anyone interested in crewing or joining the race committee should email me and I’ll try placing you as crew on a member’s boat. We have a Sunfish that is available if you have an interest. Contact me if you do.
All class boats are welcome. I will place 3 buoys in the cove in front of the GSYC in a triangular course. Each team or solo (any sailboat will do including sailfish and Laser size boats are welcome) will time themselves from start to finish. There will be two short races back to back. All boats should start at the sound of the horn of the committee boat at 11 am. The first race will be in a clockwise course starting with the buoy in front of the club. The second race will start at 11:30 am and will be counterclockwise. Start your timer when you tap or come within 5’ of the first buoy and end when you tap or come within 5’ of the last buoy. I will handicap the times so everyone has a shot at winning. The race is in this format because it is designed to be stress-free and fun. We will have a race committee boat at the start. Email me your scores at the end and I will publish the times.
