Boating

Situated on the west shore of Lake Hopatcong, the GSYC offers a variety of boating experiences. Our members have a variety of lake toys, including bow riders, pontoon boats, personal watercraft, sail boats, kayaks and pedal boats. Don’t have a boat? No problem. You will be invited out on the lake by a member who does.

Love to kayak or want to learn how? One of our members will teach you basic techniques in the safety of our pool. And then join in on one of our kayak trips through the many coves and canals on the Lake. We offer some kayak storage.

And if sailing is your thing, but you need to learn how, an Outdoor Committee member teaches sailing theory on shore, followed by a lake sail.
Lake Hopatcong is a great place for waterskiing, wakeboarding, and tubing. Our sailing instructor will also offers waterski basics. There’ s space available to store your tubes at the docks.

GSYC members head out in their boats to participate in activities which include full moon floats, the 4th of July Boat Parade, and an annual Progressive Dinner at members’ lake homes.

Every May, to kick off boating season, we offer a State of New Jersey certified boat safety course, open to members and to the public. A completion certificate is required to get a New Jersey boat license.
